Brigitte de Valk is a Pushcart Prize nominated writer. She won the Cúirt New Writing Prize in 2020 adjudicated by Claire-Louise Bennett, and the Royal Holloway Art Writing Competition in 2014. She was awarded second place in the Benedict Kiely Short Story Competition (2020), longlisted for the Leopold Bloom Prize for Innovative Narration (2026), and longlisted for the Moniack Mhor Emerging Writer Award (2024). Her work has been shortlisted for the Hastings Book Festival Short Story Competition (2025), and shortlisted and longlisted respectively for the Alpine Fellowship Writing Prize in 2022 and 2020. Short stories submitted to the Bournemouth Writing Prize in 2021 and 2022 resulted in publication.

Her short fiction has also been nominated or the Writers’ Trust McClelland & Stewart Journey Prize.

Brigitte’s work has been published by Yolk Literary Journal, Ache Magazine, Lunate Journal, Minor Literature[s], Variant Literature, Eco Theo Review, Crannóg Magazine, Sans. Press, Happy London Press, Aurelia Magazine, and Reflex Press.
